½ Credit (1 semester)
This course is required for graduation. Students will learn the basics of handling money in your personal or family life so that they can make informed decisions about real world financial issues. Topics covered include setting goals, budgeting, paychecks, taxes, financial planning, banking, insurance, credit, saving, and investing. The goal is for you to leave this class prepared to take charge of your financial future.

½ Credit (1 semester)
This course is designed to introduce students to how business works in today’s society and to provide a foundation for other business courses. Content includes business functions such as accounting, management, marketing, and other consumer issues regarding money and money management, banking system and services, the government’s role in business, and technology in the business world.

1 Credit (2 semesters)
A program that prepares individuals to manage travel related enterprises and related convention and/or tour services. Includes instruction in travel agency management tour arranging and planning, convention and event planning, travel industry operations and procedures, tourism marketing and promotion strategies, travel counseling, travel industry law, international and domestic operations, and travel and tourism policy.

*Prerequisite: Concurrent enrollment in any business class taught by Mr. Combs
This is a combination of classroom instruction with supervised on-the-job training. This internship program is designed to place students in careers in their area of interest. The cooperative method of instruction is useful for those students who wish to work full-time after graduation, for those who plan to enroll in technical programs, and for those students who wish to pursue a college degree. Academic credit is awarded for both classroom instruction and part-time employment. Students who work 20 or more hours per week for the school year will receive 2 credits. Students who work at least 10 hours per week for the school year will receive 1 credit. The student’s performance and progress on the job is evaluated by the employer in conjunction with the teacher-coordinator. The teacher coordinates the classroom instruction along with job site visits. The student will complete weekly/bi-weekly payroll forms as well as other assignments throughout the semester to investigate a workplace, trends of the job market, future plans, etc.
