Carpentry

CARPENTRY

  • 11th & 12th Grades

    3 Credits (2 semesters)/1 Credit in Technical English (4 Semesters)/1 Credit Technical Math (4 Semesters)

    Certifications: OSHA 10 Certification, OSHA Forklift Certification

    *Fee: required to cover SkillsUSA membership, two Carpentry t-shirts to wear at the job site, and safety glasses.

    *Optional Fee: $175 cost for required tools, or students can bring their own

    *This course has been approved for articulation agreements at Crowder College, Fort Scott Community College, and Ozark Technical College. 

    Course Description:

    From blueprint reading to rough construction to finish carpentry, students will learn skills they can use throughout their lives, careers, and homes. Building walls, roofs, steps, and walks will be within their capabilities due to working on actual projects. Students will also build and set concrete forms for footings, foundations, and flatwork. All students will be involved in SkillsUSA. This organization provides networking, leadership skills, and eligibility to participate in district, state, and national-level conferences and contests.
