Course Description:
Students will learn the skills necessary to produce their own t-shirts, car decals, business cards, banners, stationery, posters, wrapping paper, menus, brochures, and more. The printing and design industry is a fast-paced, high-technology field. There's never a dull moment! Coursework will include learning the basic elements of good design, simple tips and techniques to make designs stand out, and computer design using iMacs and MacBook laptops while learning Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Acrobat Pro. Design skills include print layout production, image reproduction, and digital photo manipulation. Students will learn about shop management, designing and printing actual jobs, organizing production projects, vinyl application, heat transfer images, and sublimation printing. Deadline production, customer service techniques, and management skills will be emphasized. Membership in SkillsUSA is required, and students are encouraged to participate in SkillsUSA events and contests.
