9th, 10th, 11th, & 12th Grades

1 Credit (2 Semesters)

This course is an introduction to mechanical drawing. The course is designed to give the students a thorough understanding of the basics of drafting & design. Areas covered are sketching and lettering, geometry for technical drafting, multi-view drawings, dimensioning, sectional views, and an introduction to 2D & 3D CAD software.

Drafting & Design Technology I Syllabus

10th, 11th, & 12th Grades

1 Credit (2 Semesters)

Students must have taken Drafting I, Industrial Tech with Mr. Hawes, or Woods I / II with Mr. Hawes.

This course is designed to give students an in-depth understanding and study of drafting & design. Special problems in advanced drafting & design are undertaken. Working on the functional layout of drafting for production and designing for manufacturing will be covered. We will dive into different manufacturing processes, such as welding and working with sheet metal. Students will also explore a basic introduction to CNC programming using 3D CAD software. The whole year is spent working in 3D CAD.

Drafting & Design Technology II Syllabus

11th & 12th Grades

1 Credit (2 Semesters)

Students must have taken Drafting II prior to this.

This course is designed to give students a look into Architectural drafting and basic layouts of architectural drawings. Students will spend the majority of the year working in AutoCAD as well as dive into learning 3D Architectural drafting using Autodesk Revit. Students will also take a brief look into the use of Civil Layouts using Autodesk I and CAD.

Drafting & Design Technology III

12th Grades

1 Credit (2 Semesters)

Students must have taken Drafting III prior to this.

This course is designed for students serious about drafting & design and looking into this field for college or a career. This course will focus on a more in-depth understanding of design for manufacturing as well as looking into more in-depth use of processes and tools used in manufacturing. Students will be given complex problems to simulate the problem-solving skills needed to succeed in the manufacturing industry.
